“The Four Priorities of the Model Church” (Acts 2:42-47)

Book: Acts

Message Overview

God has a purposeful design for your life—and He also has a purposeful design for His Church. The Book of Acts shows that design through real history: a story of Christ’s victory, the Spirit’s power, and the Church learning how to live on mission. After Jesus conquered sin and death and ascended to reign as Lord, He sent the Holy Spirit to form His people and empower His mission. Acts 2:42–46 gives us a clear model for that formation—four discipleship priorities that shape believers into a faithful, fruitful community and move the mission of Christ forward.

Outline

  1. Devoted to the Apostles’ Doctrine: Bible Study
    (Acts 2:42–43)
  2. Devoted to the Fellowship: Whole-Hearted Participation
    (Acts 2:42, 44)
  3. Devoted to the Breaking of Bread: Christ-Centered Worship
    (Acts 2:42, 45–46)
  4. Devoted to Prayer: Full Dependence on the Spirit
    (Acts 2:42, 47)

Big Idea

God has a design for His Church: formed by His Word, shaped through fellowship, centered on Christ in the breaking of bread, and dependent in prayer—
so that by the power of His Spirit we would be faithful and fruitful witnesses of Jesus.
